5. Look for Connections
What are the connections between the Bible text and the group you will be teaching?
Think of present day applications of the main point of the Bible passage.
6. Start Dividing
Divide the Bible passage into groups of thought, ideas, teachings etc.
Pay attention to the contrasts and drastic changes of thought
Look for words that mark a transition
Therefore

Therefore will mark a change or contrast

Often this is seen between a positive and a negative
7. What is the Point
Determine the main point of the Bible passage
Make sure that this point connects with the context and theme of the Bible book
Determine the point of each section of verses in the Bible passage
Make sure that these points connect to the theme of the Bible passage

3. Action: What does the shepherd do?
The shepherd will provide all that is needed
The sheep of a good shepherd will not lack what is needed
The Lord provides what is needed
Possible Application: Trust - Do you allow the shepherd to provide?

Organize your thoughts to help others
If you are not clear others will not understand
